THERE’S no doubt that when beef producers are buying replacement bulls, physical and structural soundness must be factored in – but what the buyer can’t see is just as important.
Using breeding values allow the bull buyer to see ‘under the hood’ of a BreedPlan-recorded animal – both his weak points and his strengths – to decide if he’s the right fit for the herd.
In an upcoming webinar presented by Beef Connect, a collaboration between FutureBeef* and Beef Central, Meat & Livestock Australia’s genetics adoption manager Clara Bradford will talk through breeding values and how they can be used to accelerate the performance of a herd.
Ms Bradford will be joined by Queensland beef producer, Kara Knudsen, who will share how her family’s business has used breeding values to more than double fertility in its herd.
Accessible from your farm desktop computer, internet-enabled tablet or smartphone, the one-hour free webinar will be held on Wednesday 12 June from 12:30pm AEST.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. Participants are encouraged to lodge questions, either before or during the event via the webinar link facility.
