ONE of Australia’s highest-profile businessmen, Gerry Harvey, will feature in an upcoming agtech webinar, focussing on tax-time implications for technology investments in agriculture.
Mr Harvey, head of the Harvey Norman retail empire, also has investments in the beef industry through his personal Wagyu cattle breeding interests stretching back more than 20 years, and the Security Foods Wagyu beef supply chain.
He will provide a unique perspective in our upcoming webinar from an agtech opportunity and adoption viewpoint.
‘Having grown up in the country I always wanted to get back as much as possible into farming. With the combination of business technology and ag technology used in the farming businesses I’m associated with, it has created immense gains in productivity and profitability,” Mr Harvey said.
“I see COVID-19 and the drought as a great opportunity for us to refresh our offices and reset our farm enterprises with technology for the future,” he said.
Next week’s webinar will also focus on the approach of tax time, and the things that rural businesses should consider in their tax planning, following a year of challenge and change.
From drought and bushfires to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2019-20 financial year has been a period of significant upheaval and business impacts.
To help with this year’s tax planning, AgTech Central and Agrihive are teaming with leading accounting and advisory firm BDO to share practical tips in next Thursday’s free webinar, available to all rural businesses.
Join BDO’s associate director and agribusiness specialist, Jodie Knowlton, along with Gerry Harvey; Harvey Norman’s head of commercial Joel Yeoman; and host, Agrihive managing director James Walker, as they discuss agtech and the best strategies for positioning your business for end-of-year tax.
The webinar will also provide insights into a range of new agtech products now available of relevance to rural businesses, and associated tax concessions.
